Conduit Bending

MrSandman.Net — Practical electrical calculators for the modern IBEW wireman.
Browser-only layout helper for common stub-up and offset bend math. Use it to check mark spacing, then verify every bend against the actual bender, conduit type, trade size, and job requirements.

90° Stub-Up Bend

Mark distance = desired finished stub height - bender take-up.

Finished height from the floor or mounting surface to the end of the conduit.
Use the take-up stamped on the bender or specified for the conduit size.
Mark distance from conduit end 7 in
12 in - 5 in = 7 in

Offset Bend

Distance between bend marks = offset height x multiplier. Shrink = offset height x shrink per inch.

Measured rise needed to clear the obstruction or line up with the box.
Spacing is measured between the two bend marks. Shrink is the layout adjustment back toward the obstruction.
Distance between bend marks 8 in
Shrink adjustment 1 in
4 in x 2 = 8 in. Shrink: 4 in x 0.25 = 1 in.
Field note: This page only performs layout math. Confirm take-up, multipliers, shrink, conduit material, trade size, bend direction, and job specifications before bending.
